What is Endometriosis?

Endometriosis is an estrogen-dependent, chronic inflammatory disease characterised by the ectopic presence of endometrial stroma and glands in extrauterine tissues (Vanucinni et al., 2024, pg.107). Research indicates that 1 in 9 women within Australia are clinically diagnosed with endo by the time they’re in their 40’s (Rowlands et al., 2020)

Many women will go undiagnosed throughout their lifetime , as the only current scientifically proven method of determining this chronic disease is through an invasive surgery known as a laporascopy (Rowlands et al., 2020; Vanucinni et al., 2024)
